Founded at the start of 2022 at the Owl Bar, Milonga Vault is a vibrant alternative milonga in Houston, TX, serving dancers of all backgrounds and levels. A staple in Houston's dance scene, we regularly attract local & visiting teachers and DJs for this weekly event.

So what exactly constitutes an alternative milonga event? Well, since a traditional milonga almost exclusively plays classic tango orchestras from the golden era, our approach at Alt Tango is to transcend these traditional boundaries, so we define alternative tango as anything other than traditional tango from the 1890's to the 1950's. 

 

We seek to celebrate Tango's versatility and embrace innovation, immersing ourselves in the vibrant rhythms of modern tango orchestras, Tango Nuevo, Tango Electronico, and beyond, welcoming any & every genre that we can dance tango to.
